Yes, another incarnation of The Three Musketeers has hit theaters. The previews made it seem pretty action packed (and I LOVE action movies), so I decided to go see it.
Note: my favorite musketeers movie is The Man In The Iron Mask. Where John Malkovich goes, I am sure to follow.
I give this latest version a “Highly Recommend”. I’m actually tempted to see it again this weekend. The action didn’t disappoint. A couple of cool twists, and a nice ending that leaves room for a sequel. Kinda weird seeing Orlando Bloom as a bad guy, but it ended up working. Poor Orlando, he only seems to be able to pull off “period piece” movies, but hey…whatever works!
I did opt to see this in 2D. I didn’t even think there was a 3D version until I got there. Some of the cooler scenes (mainly the ones with swordplay) were definitely shot in a way where seeing it in 3D would have made it even more cooler. However, I don’t feel like I missed anything.
So…go see it.
